Commercial Roof Coatings

Acrylic Coatings

This product has been in use for many years. It can be used as a top coat on all roof types including metal, modified bitumen, built-up, single-ply, and spray polyurethane foam to extend the life of the roof. Acrylic has good reflectivity and provides excellent UV protection, much like sunscreen, that preserves the integrity of the underlying roof components such as the water proofing membrane and insulation. This quality improves heat gain protection and heat aging. Acrylic is sustainable in that it’s easily repairable and renewable. Like asphalt emulsion, the cost of acrylic coatings is low.

Modified Bitumen Roofing

Modified Bitumen roofing is an asphalt based… designed for buildings with low-slope or “flat” roof structures. The latest creation with MB is the self-adhering sheet. Using special combinations of polymers to modify the underside of the MB sheets. The rolls are manufactured with a release paper. The installer removes the release paper and as the sheet is rolled out, it adheres itself to the substrate. This method eliminates the risks associated with the use of torches, hot asphalt, and is completely free of VOC (volatile organic chemicals) fumes during and after application.

Thermoplastic
Olefin (TPO)

TPO coatings are durable cost-savers. With many of the same benefits as PVC roofing such as hot-air weldable seams and energy efficiency. TPO saves you money in the long run, too. They have a strong resistance to ultraviolet light and ozone to give roofs increased energy efficiency. Maintenance is made easier as well because TPO resists mold growth, dirt accumulation, tears and punctures. The sheets come in large sizes ranging from 6- to 12-feet wide and are between 40- to 100-mils thick., giving you additional savings on installation costs.

Urethane Coatings

Don Sharp Commercial Roofing uses two American WeatherStar urethane coatings… Ure-A-SilTM and Met-A-GardTM. These are excellent coatings for commercial flat roofs. This system is designed around proven performance and versatility of its core component, high solid silicone.

Ure-A-SilTM is a seamless, fluid-applied roof restoration system. Installation is quick and easy, with no disruption to your business, residents or guests. The base layer and durability of the Ure-A-Sil system begins with AWS Urethane 520. Urethane adheres well to just about any clean substrate and offers superior durability to other coatings on the market. Top layering the system with AWS Silicone 410 provides the strongest UV stability and ultimate resistance to ponding water.

The Met-A-GardTM system from American WeatherStar is used specifically for metal roofs. It’s proven to restore & protect metal roofs using technologically advanced High-Tensile Acrylic 211 as its main component.
